As I listened to the Alchemist again, I thought I would write a few things down in my sketchbook and Zentangle around them... I think that would be an excellent thing for students to do to make "note taking" more fun.
You might be interested in The Sketchnote Handbook: The Illustrated Guide to Visual Note Taking by Mike Rhode. I sure wish that I had, had the confidence to do visual note taking instead of the standard way (pretty much dictation) in school. I probably would have done better in lecture classes.
